Make it, then eat it... and bring some home!

Olive picking takes places in October-November.

Together with your Food Ambassador, you will move to the contryside and meet your host, who will take you through olives tree to show how to spread nets under the trees and how to rake down olives, by hand. You will learn that the eventual quality of olive oil depends on many factors, including olives maturation, fertilization and climate, and that olive harvest is also an important social opportunity in Italy.

Weather permitting, the landlord will organize a pic-nic of local specialties under the trees for you, followed by a visit to the oil press to see it working and to have a better understanding of the process.

The day ends with a tasting of different kinds of freshly squeezed extra virgin olive oil with home-baked bread, paired with local Montepulciano wine.

Don’t leave without a bottle of olive oil that you contributed making!
